Hi, I’m Kara!

I’m a Brown County local, a mom of two, an outdoor enthusiast, the owner of the Brown County Barn Burner, and the creator of Tanglewood Hideaway.

My family and I moved to Brown County in 2016, looking for a slower pace, more time outdoors, and a stronger sense of community, and we’ve found all of that and more in our time here.

Love Brown County

Brown County is unlike anywhere else in Indiana.

Instead of flat farmland and busy highways, you’ll find rolling hills, scenic backroads, charming small-town shops, and some of the best outdoor recreation in the Midwest.

It’s also a lot more than fall colors and antique shops – though it has plenty of both of those, too.

This is where you can hike or bike through the State Park in the morning, catch live music in downtown Nashville at night, and find genuinely good food somewhere in between.

The arts scene here is serious, the outdoor options are legit, and the community of people who choose to live here makes it feel like home, not just another spot on the map.
