ToggleApril might be the most beautiful month to visit Brown County – and I’ll go further than that: I think April is even more magical than October. October gets all the attention because of fall color, but April is when the redbuds bloom along every back road, the wildflowers carpet the state park trails, and everything is coming back to life instead of shutting down. The crowds are a fraction of what you’ll fight in fall, and the trails you actually want to hike are wide open.
But the caveat is real – April is still shoulder season, and Indiana spring weather does what it wants. You might get 75 and sunny, you might get 45 and rainy, and you might get both in the same day. Pack layers, plan flexibly, and you’ll be fine. The magic is worth it.
