There’s no better way to start a weekend in Brown County than by enjoying a fresh donut or cinnamon roll. Whether you’re here for a wedding, a family getaway, or just a slow cabin morning, these are the local spots people ask about—and come back to again and again—for donuts, cinnamon rolls, and other breakfast treats.

This guide rounds up the local spots we personally visit, recommend to our guests at the Barn Burner, and hear rave reviews about — grouped by cinnamon rolls and donuts, so you can skip straight to what you’re craving. You’ll also find a section on farmstands and seasonal bakers for those off-the-beaten-path treats that make Brown County weekends extra special.

Some are full-service bakeries. Some are gas stations (yes, really). Some only pop up seasonally at a farmstand or market. But they’ve all got one thing in common…they’ll kick your Brown County morning off right, now matter how you take your sugar fix.

Now let’s dive in, starting with the cinnamon rolls Brown County locals and guests line up for.

Cinnamon Rolls in Nashville, Indiana

Brown County’s cinnamon rolls come in all forms—gooey café favorites, old-fashioned bakery staples, and farmstand gems baked in home kitchens. Whether you’re after something rich and decadent or more classic and cozy, these spots deliver.

Some are best eaten fresh with a hot cup of coffee. Others travel well if you’re bringing breakfast back to the cabin. And if you’re lucky enough to catch one of the seasonal bakers in action, don’t miss your chance—they go fast.

Here are our favorite places to find cinnamon rolls in and around Nashville, starting with the ones guests ask about most:

Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Rolls

Peach-topped cinnamon roll with icing drizzle on a paper plate at Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Rolls, blending fresh fruit and gooey cinnamon flavor.

As the name suggests, this place is all about the cinnamon rolls. They’re massive, pillowy soft, and absolutely drenched in sweet, sticky frosting. If you’ve got a serious sweet tooth, this is your moment.

These are the kind of cinnamon rolls that people line up for, especially on weekends. The cafe has a full breakfast and lunch menu too, but it’s the signature rolls that have earned them a loyal following (and a lot of return visits).

That said, I find that these are a little too sweet for me personally, but that hasn’t stopped me from recommending them. Because if “over the top” is your breakfast love language? This is it.

If you’re planning to visit on a Saturday or Sunday, go early or be prepared that they might sell out on busy weekends.

Offbeet Bakery

Hand holding a boxed cinnamon roll from Offbeet Bakery in Nashville, Indiana, topped with thick cream cheese frosting and a bakery logo sticker.

If cinnamon rolls are on your wishlist, but you also want options, Offbeet is the place to go.

Yes, their cinnamon rolls are great. Soft, gooey, and made from scratch like everything else in their case. But truthfully? That’s just one of many reasons I end up here on repeat.

This is hands-down my favorite all-around bakery in town, and the only full-service brick-and-mortar option in Nashville. The pastry case is stocked fresh every day that they’re open with all kinds of goodies, including gluten-free and vegan options that don’t taste like an afterthought.

I’ve personally ordered from Offbeet for everything from retreats to birthdays, and stop in whenever I can. And if they’ve got the blueberry lemon scones in stock when you’re there, do not pass them up. Seriously.

Nashville General Store & Bakery

Close-up of a freshly baked cinnamon roll from the Nashville General Store in a foam takeout box, with visible swirls of cinnamon glaze—one of the many sweet finds in Nashville, Indiana.

One of the most nostalgic spots in town, and yes, they’ve still got cinnamon rolls. I personally go for the apple dumpling, which I argue counts as breakfast (because fruit…even if you top it with ice cream).

Expect a mix of baked goods and classic comfort food, all served with a side of vintage general store charm.

This spot has been a Nashville staple for decades, and it still feels like stepping into a time capsule in the best way, with old creaky floors, vintage signs, and a counter that’s seen more cinnamon rolls than I could ever count.

Their rolls are classic: soft, swirly, and full of cinnamon. Not dripping in icing like some of the newer spots, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing. They’re more old-school comfort than over-the-top sugar bomb. The kind of thing you eat slowly with a hot coffee and a side of small-town nostalgia.

If you’re with a group or want something heartier, they’ve got a full walk-up counter menu. I know several people in town that absolutely swear by their chicken salad recipe. Even though the Nashville General Store changed ownership recently, they’ve kept the same recipe as years ago, and apparently it’s just as good as ever.

This place isn’t trying to be trendy. It’s just doing what it’s always done: serving up solid food and sweets in a setting that feels like your grandma’s favorite store.

The Daily Grind

Glass bakery case at The Daily Grind filled with labeled treats including kolaches, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, cold brew brownies, and more.

This cozy little coffee shop sits right in the heart of downtown, and while people tend to stop in for lattes and Wi-Fi, the bakery case deserves more love.

It rotates often, so you never totally know what you’re going to find, but cinnamon rolls are definitely in the mix. Sometimes classic, sometimes with a twist, always made fresh. It’s the kind of case where you walk in planning to get “just coffee,” and walk out with a cinnamon roll, a muffin, and maybe a slice of pie too.

The vibe here is relaxed and welcoming, perfect if you want to linger a bit or meet up with a friend. And if you’re on the hunt for an easy breakfast spot that isn’t a full sit-down meal, this place hits that in-between sweet spot.

Bonus: Farmstand Bakers (Seasonal + Preorder Only)

Some of the best donuts, cinnamon rolls, and sweet breads in Brown County don’t come from a storefront at all; they come from farmstands and home-based bakers who sell at markets or by preorder.

You’ll want to follow these folks on Facebook or check their signs around town, because hours and availability change with the season (and the weather). But if you time it right, you’ll be rewarded with cinnamon rolls that feel extra special

Here are a few local favorites worth keeping an eye on:

  • Bean Blossom Baking Company – Known for beautiful, sweet breads, muffins, and other treats at the Nashville Farmers Market and other nearby markets. I especially love her pecan sticky rolls!
  • Burgess Bakehouse – 100% gluten-free (with vegan options too) and seriously delicious. Great option for allergy-friendly baked goods that still taste like a treat.
  • Baked by Brandee – A local favorite with a farmstand set-up and a rotating menu of sweet and savory baked goods.
  • Little Brown County Bakery – Farmstand-only and full of charm. Think classic baked goods with a homey twist.

Donuts in Nashville, Indiana

If cinnamon rolls are all about slow, cozy mornings, then donuts are the grab-and-go heroes of Brown County. Whether you’re after a classic glazed, something wildly over-the-top, or a donut-croissant hybrid with its own fan club, there’s something here for every kind of sweet tooth.

Here’s where to go when only a donut will do.

Volànts at Olde Bartley House

A white box of gourmet donuts held up outside The Olde Bartley House coffee and donut shop in Nashville, Indiana.

If you haven’t had a Volànt yet, you’re in for a treat. These croissant-style pastries are crisp, flaky, and layered like a dream. They’re somewhere between a donut and a French pastry, with rotating flavors like Pistachio Dream and Peanut Butter Pie (my two personal favorites).

But don’t stop at the sweets. The real hidden gem here? Their breakfast sandwiches, served on plain Volànts. Flaky, buttery, and filled with eggs, cheese, and your protein of choice. Basically, everything you want in a breakfast sandwich, just elevated.

The vibe? Vintage charm. The historic yellow building is full of Hohenberger-era character, and the attention to detail—from the drinks to the decor—makes it one of my favorite places to send guests who want something a little extra.

Fair warning: they sell out of some flavors early, especially on weekends, so don’t roll in at 1pm expecting a full case.

Design-A-Donut at Percy’s Perk

Two people holding boxed donuts—one with chocolate icing and the other with pink icing and gummy bears—inside Percy's Perk.

Percy’s Perk puts a playful twist on your standard donut run with their “Design-A-Donut” bar: a build-your-own setup where you choose your icing and toppings, and they assemble your creation while you wait. Think fresh-baked cake donuts, dipped, dressed, and topped just the way you like.

It’s located in the back of Our Little World Studio on Van Buren Street, which also offers make-and-take crafts, so it’s a fun stop for families or groups looking for a laid-back morning activity that doubles as breakfast.

It opened in October 2023 and has quickly become a favorite for custom donuts and quick coffee stops. Whether you’re decorating for fun or picking up a half-dozen to share, it’s a charming, casual option that kids and grownups alike will enjoy.

Fresh Baked Donuts at the Nashville BP

Donut display inside the Nashville BP gas station with signs for honey buns, yeast donuts, Long Johns, and apple fritters.

Yes, we’re talking about the gas station, but hear me out! The Nashville BP serves up fresh-baked donuts every morning, and they’re surprisingly good. You won’t find trendy toppings or wild flavors here, just all the classics: glazed, cake, long johns, chocolate icing with sprinkles, and more.

They also have one of my favorite low-key breakfast options in town: hot, fresh-made breakfast sandwiches that are fast, filling, and super affordable (I always go for the sausage egg and cheese biscuit).

Bonus points for opening earlier than most sit-down spots in town, which makes this a smart stop for early risers or anyone heading out on a hike.

Need a bigger order for a group? Call ahead a few days in advance and they can have your choice of donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and more boxed and ready for pickup.

It’s one of those places that locals know is way better than you’d expect, and now you’re in on the secret too.

Donut Central ‘Mobile Command’ Food Truck

A variety box of donuts from Donut Central Mobile Command, featuring maple, sprinkled, peanut-covered, and whipped cream-topped creations.

Once upon a time, Donut Central’s Mobile Command truck made weekly appearances in Nashville…but these days? It’s more like once every few months. That said, when they do show up, it’s worth tracking them down, because their donuts are seriously delicious.

Think creative flavors, thick fillings, and even do’sants (a donut–croissant hybrid) that hit that perfect sweet spot between indulgent and over-the-top. They usually pop up in the IGA parking lot, and when they do, they sell out fast, so it’s best to pre-order or get there early.

Your best bet is to follow them on Facebook and keep an eye out for announcements. If your trip happens to align with one of their visits, go for it. You won’t be disappointed!
