Make it easy for customers to find you, trust you, and choose you.

Get Found in Brown County

Simple, practical steps to help customers find and choose your business

LIVE, IN-PERSON WORKSHOP at the Brown County Barn Burner
Created specifically for rural small businesses serving locals and visitors in Brown County.

Next workshops offered Monday, August 24 or Tuesday, August 25, 2026
(Same workshop offered on two separate days)

**Beginner (8:30a-12:00p) and Intermediate (1:00-4:30p) options available. Come to one session or both, depending on where you’re at in your business.

You work hard. You show up every day. Maybe you’ve been in business for years.

But if your hours are wrong online, your website link doesn’t work, or your Google listing is incomplete, customers won’t find you. Or worse, they’ll move on to someone else.

This workshop is about fixing the foundational pieces that directly impact whether people can find you, trust you, and walk through your door.

No trends. No TikTok dances. No hiring an agency. Just clear, practical improvements that increase your business visibility and make it easier for customers to choose you – and you’ll make them during the workshop, not after.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Make sure your Google Business Profile is complete and accurate
  • Fix common mistakes that cost you visibility and, ultimately, customers
  • Use customer questions and search data to guide what you post
  • Make your online presence work for your business instead of costing you customers

“I was a little wary going in, being not computer literate. Kara made my Google Business Profile easy for me to understand. It was easier than I expected, and I made real changes.”

– K. D., ‘Get Found’ workshop attendee

Two sessions. One clear focus.

Choose your starting point

This is a working session, not a lecture. You’ll bring your laptop, log into your actual accounts, and leave with things fixed – not a list of things you mean to get to.

  • Morning – ‘Beginner’ Session – (8:30 AM to 12:00 PM) – Google Business Profile foundations. For owners who need to set up or clean up their Google listing and make sure the basics are accurate, complete, and visible.
  • Afternoon – ‘Intermediate’ Session – (1:00 PM to 4:30 PM) – Using what you already have. For owners whose foundation is solid and who want to use their website, search data, and real customer questions to increase visibility – without adding marketing work.

Not sure which one? Three quick questions.

  1. Have you logged into your Google Business Profile in the last 6 months?
  2. Are you confident your hours, description, categories, and photos are complete and current?
  3. If a stranger Googled you right now, would you be comfortable with everything they’d see?

Any “no” (or “I’m not sure”)? Start with the morning session. Most established businesses discover gaps they didn’t know were there.

Three yeses? You’ll do great in the afternoon session.

Want the full picture? Do both. Foundation in the morning, strategy in the afternoon, and a discount for the day.

NOTE: This is a small-group, hands-on workshop so we can actually look at real businesses and make real improvements. Spots are limited.

What to Expect

What We’ll Cover in Each Session

Morning – Google Business Profile Foundations

8:30 AM – 12:00 PM

If you’re not completely confident in your Google listing, this is where you start.

  • Claiming and verifying your Google Business Profile so customers can actually find you
  • Choosing the right categories and writing a clear description so customers understand exactly what you offer
  • Updating hours (including seasonal hours), so customers aren’t showing up when you’re closed
  • Adding photos that help customers understand what you offer
  • Managing and responding to reviews (and knowing how to ask for them)
  • The common mistakes I see on local listings every single week

You’ll leave with a cleaned-up (or clearly mapped-out) listing and a checklist to keep it accurate going forward.

Afternoon – Using What You Already Have to Increase Visibility

1:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Once your foundation is solid, this session helps you go further, without adding hours of marketing work.

  • Understanding what Google already tells you about how customers are finding you (using tools like Search Console and Analytics, in plain language, if you have a website)
  • Turning search data and real customer questions into content that helps people find you
  • Making your website easier for customers (and Google) to understand
  • Ensuring your social posts are findable and useful to potential customers
  • Deciding what’s worth your limited time – and what you can safely ignore

You’ll leave with a practical, manageable visibility plan sized to your actual week.

You can attend one or both sessions. But even established businesses will benefit from doing both, because we’ll cover the foundation first, then the strategy.

“I tend to have tons of ideas and ‘to do tasks’ but struggle to prioritize which ones need my energy, or I start one and then jump around. The workbook allowed me to navigate exactly the areas I need to work on. It really helped me clarify what my focus should be right now.”

– E. W., ‘Get Found’ workshop attendee

What You’ll Walk Away With

  • A printed workbook and clear checklists you’ll actually use again
  • Real updates made to your real listing, during the session
  • A clear picture of how customers are currently finding you (or failing to)
  • Clarity about where to focus – and explicit permission to ignore the rest
  • Confidence that your online presence isn’t quietly costing you customers

This is for you if…

  • You run a rural small business – retail, restaurant, lodging, or a service business serving a real geographic area
  • You have fewer than 10 employees and wear most of the hats yourself
  • You don’t consider yourself “techy” (you’re in good company – most of the room won’t either)
  • You’re tired of feeling like the online rules keep changing, and you want this to be SIMPLE

This isn’t for you if…

  • Your business is online-only with no local customer base – the principles overlap, but this workshop is built around local visibility
  • You already have a dialed-in marketing operation and a team running it
  • You want someone to do it for you. This is hands-on by design – which is exactly why it sticks.

If you’re not sure whether it’s a fit, message me, and I’ll tell you honestly – including “skip it” if that’s the true answer.

The Investment

If you’re unsure which session to choose, feel free to message me with any questions, and I’m happy to help you decide.

  • Beginner Session – $90
  • Intermediate Session – $90
  • Both Sessions – $165

Each session is capped at a small group on purpose – we look at real businesses and make real improvements, and I purposely keep this small so we can keep things practical.

Bring your laptop or tablet and your logins (I’ll send a short pre-work checklist so you arrive ready). Come prepared to make updates, not just take notes.

“The detailed workbook and step-by-step instructions were incredibly helpful. Kara is exceptionally knowledgeable and well-prepared. I was blown away by her presentation and materials, and that’s coming from someone with a corporate background – I was truly impressed.”

– A. B., ‘Get Found’ workshop attendee

Can’t make it in person?

The morning session’s framework also exists as a self-paced workbook – the Setup Your Google Business Profile Workbook ($47). Same steps, same plain language, worked through at your own kitchen table.

Come to the workshop if you want it done in one focused session, with your questions answered on the spot and other local owners in the room. Grab the workbook if the dates don’t work, you’re outside driving distance, or you’d rather work in your own time.

Either way, the goal is the same – a customer searching for what you offer finds you, trusts you, and chooses you.

A Note From Me

Through Tanglewood Hideaway and the Barn Burner, I look at dozens of local business listings every single week.

Not in theory. Not as an SEO exercise. Just as someone trying to answer real questions:
Where should we eat?
What’s open on Tuesday?
Does this place take reservations?
What does this shop actually sell?

And I can’t tell you how often I see:

  • No hours listed
  • Broken website links
  • No photos of the space
  • A Facebook page that doesn’t clearly show what a business does or sells

Meanwhile, I know the owners are working incredibly hard. I know how much it takes to run a small business here. I know how many hats you’re wearing.

That’s why this workshop isn’t about adding more to your plate. It’s about making sure the work you’re already doing isn’t getting lost because the basics weren’t clear or consistent.

You don’t need to master every marketing strategy. You just need to make it easy for people to find you, understand what you offer, and feel confident choosing you.

Since the first round of these workshops in March 2026, I’ve watched attendees make real changes – and I’ve built this material into a standalone workbook if you want to go the DIY route and an AI working cohort partnered with The STEAMery because the need kept showing up. ‘Get Found’ is still where it all starts.

If that feels like a relief instead of another burden, I’d love to see you there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’ve never touched my Google listing before?

That’s completely fine – the morning session is designed for exactly that. We walk through setup and cleanup step by step in plain language. No prior experience needed.

Will the morning session be Helpful if I already have a Google Business Profile?

Most established businesses discover gaps they didn’t realize were there, like outdated hours, incomplete descriptions, and unused features.

If you’re not completely confident your listing is fully optimized and up to date, start with the morning session.

If you feel confident your foundation is solid, start with the afternoon session.

What if I’m not “techy”?

That’s OK, you don’t need to be.

This workshop is built for owner-operators, not marketing professionals. Everything is explained in plain language, and we’ll focus on practical steps.

Can I attend both sessions?

Yes, and many businesses benefit from doing both – foundation first, then strategy. The $165 rate for both sessions exists for exactly this.

If you’re unsure which session is right for you, feel free to reach out and ask.

Do I need a website to attend the intermediate session?

No, although if you have one, you’ll get more out of it. We’ll work on visibility through whatever platforms your business actually uses.

What if my business isn’t in Brown County?

The workshop will still be relevant if you run a small or rural business serving a specific community and you’re within driving distance. My examples are Brown County-based, but the principles travel.

What if I have an online-only business?

Some of the concepts – especially in the afternoon “Intermediate” session – may still be useful, particularly around understanding search behavior and using customer questions to guide content. However, the primary focus of this workshop is on local visibility for small businesses serving a distinct geographic area.

If your business does not rely on local customers or a defined service area, this workshop may not be the best fit.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring your laptop or tablet and login information for your Google Business Profile and website (if you have one). We’ll be making updates during the session, not just taking notes.

I’ll also send a short pre-work checklist in advance so you can come prepared and get the most out of our time together.

Will we get everything You’ve Listed done during the session?

In many cases, yes, especially if your listing already exists and you have access.

If you’re creating or claiming a brand-new Google Business Profile, there may be verification steps that take additional time (such as mail or video verification). If that happens, you’ll still leave with everything mapped out and a clear step-by-step plan to complete it.

The goal is for you to leave with clarity and momentum, not confusion.

What if I can’t make it after registering?

Because this is a small, intentionally limited workshop, all registrations are final.

If something unexpected comes up and you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to transfer your registration to a future workshop (if space allows), and you’ll receive the pre-work, workbook, checklists, and session resources either way.
