My biggest wins this year…what about yours? Let’s reflect before the year slips away.
As 2024 winds down, I’ve been reflecting on everything this year brought—and what I’m proud to say I accomplished.
It’s been a full, beautiful year and, while it wasn’t without its challenges, I’m walking away from it with a sense of pride, gratitude, and excitement for what’s ahead.
Here are a few of the things I’m celebrating this year:
1) Four years of hosting at the Barn Burner!
In November, we marked four years of hosting guests at the Brown County Barn Burner. Since 2020, we’ve welcomed over 575 groups—everything from cozy couples’ getaways to big 29-person family reunions.
It’s been amazing to see new faces and returning guests, and I’m so grateful for all of you who’ve been a part of this journey.
If you’re gathering with family and friends over the holidays, it’s the perfect time to start planning a group getaway for 2025. Weekends are already filling up fast, and summer dates are limited, so don’t wait too long to book!
2) Relaunching the Tanglewood Hideaway website.
This year, I rebuilt the entire Tanglewood Hideaway website from the ground up, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! It’s been so fun sharing all the great spots and tips about Brown County.
One of my big goals for the year was to publish 52 blog posts, and I’m not quite there yet…but I think I can make it! (Wish me luck as I squeeze in some last-minute writing in the next two weeks!)
3) Hosting two unforgettable REIGNITE Retreats.
One of the biggest highlights this year was bringing together a total of 31 incredible women—between attendees and instructors—at our first two REIGNITE Retreats in June and September.
These weekends were full of creativity, connection, and magic, and they were a reminder of why we designed the Barn Burner the way we did: to create a space for events that build community and spark inspiration. I can’t wait for the next retreats in 2025!
So, that’s my list. There are still a few things I’m trying to wrap up before I wind down for a little winter break with my family, but I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished this year—and so excited for what’s to come in 2025.
What about you?
Now, I’d love to hear from you: What’s your biggest accomplishment this year? Or your favorite thing you made happen?
Take a minute to think about it. And if you’re feeling up to it, reach out and let me know—I’d love to cheer you on!
Whether it’s something big, small, or somewhere in between, reflecting on your wins is such an important way to close out the year.
Here’s to celebrating all the good moments,
Kara
P.S. This is my last Wednesday newsletter of the year. I’m taking some time off to focus on home and family (and trying to hit that 52 blog post goal with some early morning writing sessions…🙃). Happy holidays, and see you in the New Year!

One of my absolute favorite images from the first REIGNITE Retreat! This was from our picnic-inspired dinner at Yellowwood State Forest on the final night of the retreat.  Registrations are open for the 2025 retreats now, if you’re interested in joining the magic.
