Who’s behind it

Hi – I’m Kara! We moved to Brown County in 2016 (somehow over 10 years ago now!). I created Tanglewood Hideaway – and keep the event calendars and the directory on this site – because finding out what’s going on around here used to be way harder than it should be.

The name of this newsletter – On Brown County Time – is something we say a lot in my family, and it means slowing down and living at the pace Brown County actually runs, instead of trying to make it fit the way things work in other places.

One of the best parts of living here is that all the things people drive hours to experience are right down the road for us. And I believe that a lot of what gets called “visitor information” is actually MORE useful to locals than tourists, because we’ve got all year to hike the trails and eat at the restaurants and get involved. But you can’t enjoy any of it if you don’t know it’s here.

So this email is how I help locals stay on top of what’s going on, keep up with the rhythm of the seasons, and actually get to be part of it all.

I love living here, and I want to help you feel more at home in Brown County too.
